Creative Aging Calgary Society Membership

Older adults' active involvement in the arts and learning promotes physical health, supports a sense of well being, enriches quality of life, and decreases the risk factors for declining health and need for care. Many older adults are actively engaged in the arts; however there is a general lack of awareness in the public, healthcare, and social services communities about the positive physical and psychological impacts of arts participation. Creative Aging Calgary Society's mission is to increase awareness of the positive physical and psychological impact that arts participation can have on older adults. Our activities include advocacy of participatory arts and aging programs with a variety of stakeholders, hosting an annual Creative Aging Symposium, conducting professional development seminars and offering a resourceful website.

We invite you to join the CACS (no fee, it's free). The benefits of participation include:

  • enhanced understanding of the health and well-being benefits associated with arts and creative expression in later life
  • access to resources related to creative aging
  • awareness of professional development activities available
  • priority registration to our local Creative Aging Symposium
  • networking opportunities
